Being COVID crazy made me do it!

Updated: Jan 29, 2021

I've been wanting to do this for years; writing a blog about one of my passions, but never could seem to find the time. Work and family responsibilities and, of course watching 82 Sens games a year took up a lot of my time.

Now children are grown and the Ontario Government told me to stay home, so maybe now is a good time to start.

I was really going to write about last nights game against the Jets (1/23/21), but couldn't seem to find the correct words to describe what I thought of the game. Well I could have, but I didn't want to use foul language on my first post. Ah, games against the Vancouver Canucks, who have already lost 5 games this year would certainly be a more positive beginning to write about. Um...well...I think I may have found it. Nick (The Beast) Paul has been good, I mean really good (Spezza who?)

I will get back to the team, but a little about the writer. I moved to Ottawa from Vancouver in the 1993-94 season, so I missed the first Senator's year. I was pretty excited about a new NHL team, in which you could actually buy tickets to go see (Vancouver Canucks were a hot ticket), so I made my way to what was then the civic arena to buy tickets. After an unsuccessful search I returned to work without any tickets. When I entered our offices, my co-worker asked me if I got good seats. I had to confess, being pretty embarrassed about it that I couldn't find the building. Maybe that was a sign of things to come as a Sens fan. I did eventually find the building after my co-worker told me the entrance was under the North side stands of the football stadium.

27 years a passionate fan I am, seen a lot of talented, and not so talented athletes dawn a Senator's jersey, so I will try to entertain as much as I can anyone that wants to read.

So short intro, I'm gearing for the Edmonton games beginning Sunday (They have lost 6 of 9). Got the PVR ready as it's another late start 9:00 PM

Murray’s .947 save percentage

Yes folks, show me a good goalie and I’ll show you a good coach. Finally, the Senators got some saves, and maybe those saves were responsible for a win. Ok, Murray’s .947 save percentage was in this g

Melnyk predicted "five-year run of unparalleled success"

I was reminded of Eugene Melnyk’s bold prediction in 2019, Melnyk said that the organization is “all-in” for a “five-year run of unparalleled success,” and that he plans to spend close to the NHL’s sa

Senators win 2-0

Okay, The Senators won the third period, but that’s a start. If you don’t think winning a period is important, well is has been a long time since they have done it. We need to go back 12 periods of Ho
